IT TAKES A VILLAGE….AND THAT’S A GOOD THING

Quick question: do you know how much your time is worth? What about how much your time SHOULD be worth?


I came across a situation recently where I was faced with task that I just wasn’t going to be good at - growing my social media presence. It’s not a skill that comes to me naturally, and it was going to be a struggle and take up loads of my already limited time.


Being incredibly stubborn I fought it for so long, until one day I just let go and decided to recruit the help of a social media consultant - someone far more educated + experienced on the topic. Within days of making that outsourcing decision, I saw my engagement significant improve AND I had so much more time to focus on my clients.


I used to think I had to do it all myself. There was nothing worse than me having to ask someone for help, no matter how small. Blame it on ego, cultural upbringing or just plain stubbornness, that’s just how I was.


But when I looked at how much time I was spending a day/week/month on social media alone, it literally blew my mind. 2-3 hours a day , or 40 to 60 hours per month!! And when I multiplied those hours on social by my hourly rate, my jaw dropped. I was cheating myself of time and potential earnings!


Maybe you’re reading this and thinking, “Danielle, I just can’t afford a social media guru/web developer/business consultant to organize my brand/attorney to draft this agreement/coach to help me visualize my next step.” And trust me, I HEAR YOU. Hiring other people = money, and while you respect your fellow entrepreneur’s hustle, you have limited financial resources and need to be conservative in how you spend them. I thought that too.


But here’s the kicker: we all have the same 24 hrs in the day. What you do with that time is what dictates your success My time and energy is best spent on my strengths. Consulting. Coaching. Advising. Creating. I need to spend more time living in my strengths and focus on letting those grow my business. YOUR time is equally valuable and is best spent focusing on your STRENGTHS and how they can grow your business, brand and goals.
